(35,699 posts)All she had to do was BE Hillary Clinton, a woman who is more successful than they are. And THAT is the truth of the matter. Republicans did not even know about the email server before they started this bullshit. Nor would the lack of any such event have stopped them. They would have found something else.

Heres what Donald Trump says hell do if hes elected president: Bring the country together.
I will be a great unifier for our country, the billionaire Republican businessman told CNN. Speaking in an interview that aired Sunday, Trump, who leads nationally for the Republican presidential nomination, lamented the House Benghazi committees questioning of Hillary Clinton last week, saying: The level of hatred between Republicans and Democrats was unbelievable. Trump said President Barack Obama has divided the U.S. but he will be different. Ive gotten along with Democrats and Ive gotten along with Republicans, Trump said.
Behind Carsons rise: Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is running second in national GOP polls, but is gaining on Trump in Iowa. Speaking to voters there, the New York Times says they cite Carsons character, not his positions, as the main reason they back him. The bombastic Trump has derided Carson as lacking the vigor to be president, but Carson supporters say his low-key approach is just what would tame Washingtons bitter partisanship. ...
AND AS FOR HILLARY...SHE'S ALIENATED AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DEMOCRATIC BASE...JUST BY BEING WHAT SHE IS: BRASH, CARELESS, SKIRTING THE BOUNDS, AND AMAZINGLY GREEDY

(85,373 posts)and so far I haven't seen her making any effort to change the political temperature of the disaffected who sent the Tea Party to Congress in the first place.
US Politics isn't winner-take-all. Unless Hillary has coattails sufficiently powerful to sweep a couple hundred supporters into the legislature, it's going to be worse than ugly, and all the fun taken out of dysfunctional.
And then, there all all the governors to contend with, all funded by Koch Bros....
