I listen to Thom every day at the office -- lots of good information, often not found elsewhere.
I wish we had more voices like his on the air and on TV -- I am so weary of the RW slant to the news in all media, and the increasing number of RW pundits on TV.
I express my concerns to my local newspaper editors who listen to me, but it doesn't seem to inspire action. They are defensive, and reiterate the number of conservative readers who agree with them.

If the President is term-limited, then why aren't all of the Senators and all of the Congressmen also term-limited?
This is an issue that should be taken up by the Supreme Court.

If we had a just world Blair, w, Cheney, Rummy, and so on would either be in jail
and or have their homes and properties seized and turned over as hospitals for the
vets of that war or as places for the refugees to call home.
I'll bet that Blair's apology gets zero time on the network news shows tonight.

.... Iraq war and KBR's burn pits. Beau Biden most likely got his brain cancer
from his tour of duty in Iraq too. Over a million people are dead because of
that unneeded war and nobody is going to be held accountable for that never
ending bloodbath "they" started.

Their greed has had millions of repercussions and heart breaks, like this sad photo and all of those innocents killed.
And, I've thought of this before, why hasn't Biden taken up this greatly important issue and preached it from his pulpit? Guess it's just not his style...or is he just clueless? Military = Patriotism and all.

(14,174 posts)According to some here on DU, anyone who accepts the opportunity to talk about the issues and given a platform to do that is funded by Russian TV must be reading off of a script with Putin talking points. Never mind that General Electric, one of the worlds largest arms dealers owns MSNBC, but you know, Rachel Maddow won't let that compromise her stories for them...because...you know. But Abby Martin and Thom Hartmann must be Russian spies.

(19,926 posts)One can only say that if one doesn't know what one is talking about - never listened to Thom or doesn't know who he is - or one is so dedicated to their idol they cannot bear to have a Bernie supporter speak, especially one so informed and intelligent.
Truth of it is, he compliments Hillary a lot on his show. He doesn't go after her. And he's invited her to come on the show. I'm sure she will never do that because he only lets people on if they allow unscreened calls to come in, but then he did do a separate interview for O'Malley and then aired it so I'm sure he would do the same for Clinton.

when are you going to take the next step and publicly denounce capitalism as the expropriation of the working class and labor ? When are you going to stop attaching adjectives like - "Wall Street-style predatory capitalism" - in front of the word capitalism imagining that there is "some other type of capitalism" that is "not so predatory" ? When are you going to take deep examination of class struggle and class analysis and bring that into the public discourse and to your readership Thom ? When are you going to tell your readership the full truth that capitalism can't be "made fair" or "reformed" for the benefit of the WHOLE Thom ? When are you going to start talking about a mass movement of working class political power instead of promoting the lesser of two-evils electoral politics as solutions Thom ?
Until then Thom its all lip-service and business as usual and the words of T.S. Eliot come to mind...Shape without form, shade without color, paralyzed force, gesture without motion...
And on a final note Thom and to paraphrase and twist one from Malcolm a bit...
"You put a fox in the chicken coop and are surprised when it starts to kill the chickens."
Capitalism is the fox and the working class are the chickens Thom. The destruction of the chickens will continue until the fox is gone.

(1 post)Hi Thom,
WZZM13 News is investigating short staffing, theft and other disturbing issues by J2S Healthforce at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans (GRVH). In 2012, the Republican controlled House, Senate and Governor Synder (R) cut $4.2 Million annually from State funds for GRVH. The resulting budget crisis was "solved" by outsourcing services to Veterans to the private, for profit company J2S Healhforce. Good paying jobs with benefits and Union protection were eliminated. Replacement workers have little benefits and pay is in the $10 per hour range.
Just a few known, proven to be true examples of J2S malfeasance: One elderly Veteran had is mouth covered with duct tape when he cried out too much for J2S Staff to tolerate. Another was forced to empty trash after he complained about the increasingly filthy conditions. Deaths were not reported in a timely manner.
This is the tip of the iceberg.
I can supply much more information, people to contact, etc.
