Bail set at $1 million for Oklahoma woman charged with plowing into crowd

STILLWATER, OKLA. | BY LENZY KREHBIEL-BURTON

An Oklahoma judge on Monday set bond at $1 million for the woman suspected of plowing her car into a crowd at a weekend homecoming rally for Oklahoma State University, killing four and injuring nearly 50 others.

Adacia Chambers, 25, is suspected of having been driving while intoxicated when she rammed her gray Hyundai Elantra at high speed into a crowd watching Saturday's parade in Stillwater, killing three adults and a toddler, police said.

Chambers appeared by video link with Payne County District Court in her first court proceeding for the case. She has been charged with second-degree murder, which can bring between 10 years and life in prison.

She did not enter a plea and another hearing was set for Nov. 13.

Four dozen people were also injured, five of them critically, in the accident that sent shockwaves through the college town about 70 miles (112.5 km) west of Tulsa. The crash was captured on mobile-phone video and seen globally.

be mentioned much as the root cause of so much carnage by otherswise decent folks.

Drugs can do that.

How many words can the media use to substitute for so as not to mention "alcohol"?

15. Field sobriety tests are designed to be failed so they legally go to the next step of breath/blood

If you do a bunch of things you haven't done since you were 10 years old (stand on 1 foot with your eyes closed looking up) while a bunch of cops stand around you shining flash lights on you... chances are you wont do one the tests correctly (at least based on their judgement). Throw in the fact she wrecked a car driving into people and could have got a minor concussion or at a minimum be nervous as hell, and that is why field sobriety tests aren't treated as "proof of drinking" in court rooms.

You have to wait for the breath or blood test results before saying if alcohol or any other drug was involved.

There is much we don't know yet. There is no evidence presented yet that she was intoxicated or off her meds so all of that is speculation. I lost people who I knew and others who are severely injured. Let's wait for real evidence from a proper investigation that is taking place now.
