I still love DU though. It's given me refuge since 2003 when I joined. But the separation of economic justice and racial justice is wrong headed and a trap. I can no longer take the ruse. They are bound. Therefore, I'm morally and intellectual required to in my own mind to leave if for nothing else just because I'm tired and old. I will seek out doing the best I can for my fellow human beings. I also will do the best I can do for my children. The only things I have difficulty with are false and politically created contradictions. Much success to you and your progeny. A better world doesn't leave anything or anyone out.

(1,587 posts)I get tired of it too. It's like people know what we need for real change, but they're so stuck on doing what they've done before they just can't step off the wheel. They try to convince themselves that the third way will come through for us, even though history has told us it's just a slower decent.
A lot of this mess here is from trolls and paid operatives, so it's just smoke screen anyway. Put them on ignore. The PTB are scared shitless of Bernie, and they'll do what it takes to bring him down.
Bernie may not win the nomination -- though I think he will -- but I'm still writing his name in. If every supporter would do that, he'd take the White House.

A lot of good people are refusing jury duty, and when that happens, you have the worst of us deciding which posts stay, which ones remain, and so on. It's a lot like what's been happening in America for far too long. If you choose not to participate, understand that others will be making the rules for you. If you want to have a say, you must vote.

(45,251 posts)The people ruining GD: P ran me off back in 2013. I just disappeared, and came back in July of last year. And then one of the most ghastly people in the history of DU, who had been one of my more vocal tormentors, stalked off in a huff over a comic book cover ( ), (and hasn't returned, praise Celestia!) just a month after I came back.
And there was much rejoicing..

I hardly even remember usernames here.
I just happened to recall his previous GBCW only because I enjoyed the "monk" television show, and that one stuck in my limited memory.
But, thank you for your commentary on my life. I quite enjoy mine. It only took a few seconds out of it to do this, to see if my memory was failing:
https://www.google.com/search?q=taking+a+break+mmonk+site%3Ademocraticunderground.com&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
I actually missed several, and you are right - there is one incorrect one in the post I put together.
You are also right that several seemed to be temporary. Perhaps we can have a forum where people can post their DU posting schedules for the month, so that everyone can keep track of these important announcements.
Rex
(65,616 posts)Just to keep your flowcharts accurate, I would worry all night knowing something - somewhere was WRONG on the Internets! I'd never sleep again!
jberryhill
(62,444 posts)This is not a "flowchart":
https://www.google.com/search?q=taking+a+break+mmonk+site%3Ademocraticunderground.com&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
However, if your point is that we are not to keep track of these announced "breaks from DU", then why are they made?
Or are you suggesting that someone posts "I'll be away for a while" and nobody should give a shit? If so, then what is the point in posting them?
Okay, I see. Someone regularly announces that they are fed up and taking a break from DU, and it is rude for anyone else to notice that they do so. Still seems to come back to "so why post it, if it is rude for others to notice your posts?"
Clearly, mmonk wants the DU readership to be apprised of his comings and goings, so why the sad?
Rex
(65,616 posts)I know you do not have any flowcharts (NSA told me), I was just joking with ya! No, for flowcharts you have to go to pintobean. He has the best.

And, MANY of us here at DU believe we have to fight for both economic and social justice at the same time.
Fielding candidates that believe in both strongly shouldn't be as difficult as it is currently. The only reason it is currently is that financial interests heavily fund THEIR candidates in the primaries (candidates that don't believe in passing (or fighting for) policies that help address the ridiculous levels of economic and wealth inequality we face today).
Much peace of mind to you and yours.

(101,362 posts)I thought it had rather faded as an issue. I don't look at GDP much, it's true, but when I have, it hasn't seemed to be the main topic.

(10,044 posts)not as much now as when Bush was president and we needed a place to vent, or when Obama was elected twice and we needed a place to express our appreciation for him and his programs.
It's a bit nerve wracking now. There's too much justifying wrong and criticizing right, and we haven't changed things much.
There are folks here whom I love without ever having met them.
