The Politicians "Anonymous" outed for being in the KKK has not been independently verified.

But, being from NC, I would not be surprised if this was spot on.

1. The list also has the names of people who were critical of the KKK and similar groups

One was identified as a journalist, another was from the SPLC. Curiously, the KKK labeled them as "racist".

2. Madeline Rogero, Mayor of Knoxville, should not be on this list
Mon Nov 2, 2015, 12:17 PM
Nov 2015

according to a commenter on DailyKos, who writes:

"This list is not accurate (5+ / 0-)

It includes Mayor Madeline Rogero. The of Knoxville, Tennessee. Mayor Rogero is left of center politician, who prior to her political career a lifelong progressive activist who along with her Husband in the worked for César Chávez's United Farm Workers advocating for better wages and working conditions for migrant farm workers. In the 1980s she and her Husband moved to Knoxville and helped run the textile workers' union, Amalgamated Clothing & Textile Workers, now UNITE HERE. Although the Mayor's position in Knoxville is officially non-partisan, she is not shy about the fact that she is a Democrat. Remember, while Knox County is largely Republican due to the suburbs and rural areas surrounding the city of Knoxville that vote heavily Republican, the city itself voted for Barack Obama twice. I am about 99.99% that Mayor Rogero is not a Klan member. Her being on the list makes the entire list suspect."

If this commenter is correct, it would be terrible to have her reputation ruined by this. The list does need independent verification.

3. Here's the first denial I've seen-

Lexington Mayor Jim Gray issued a statement Monday strongly denying that he has any ties to the Ku Klux Klan after activist hacker group "Anonymous" released his name as one of several elected officials in the United States with alleged ties to the group.

"This allegation is false, insulting and ridiculous," Gray said in a written statement released Monday morning. "I have never had any relationship of any kind with the KKK. I am opposed to everything it stands for. I have no idea where this information came from, but wherever it came from, it is wrong."

I'll wait on some kind of confirmation before I believe something so foul about someone.

Mayor Fraim said he was first alerted of the claims Monday morning when 10 On Your Side reached out to him about them.

He issued this statement:

The claim by Anonymous that I am in anyway affiliated or related to the KKK is absolutely false and defamatory. There is no truth to their statement whatsoever. I am not and have never been affiliated with any such organization. I find it incredulous that these people can hide behind their computers and create such an inaccurate and hateful statement.”

Almost all DUers who started threads about it have done the same thing. It is interesting, and revealing, that you choose not to do so.
