Why belong to the KKK?

My wild guess is this is one way, at least for a politician (and I'm guessing mostly republicans), to show their pure hatred for blacks while
still campaigning for office. Can't admit your true feeling will campaigning now can you?

Sure, a KKK member who runs for public office couldn't publicize it, however, your secret pals could work for you behind the scenes to get you elected and re-elected.

For example, here's alleged KKK-member South Carolina House Rep. Joe Wilson, Republican, District 2, on civil rights:

Joe Wilson on Civil Rights

Apologized for shouting "You lie!" at Obama speech. (Oct 2011)
Voted NO on reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act. (Feb 2013)

Voted YES on Constitutionally defining marriage as one-man-one-woman. (Jul 2006)
Voted YES on making the PATRIOT Act permanent. (Dec 2005)
Voted YES on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Sep 2004)
Voted YES on protecting the Pledge of Allegiance. (Sep 2004)
Voted YES on constitutional amendment prohibiting flag desecration. (Jun 2003)
Rated 17% by the ACLU, indicating an anti-civil rights voting record. (Dec 2002)
Rated 0% by the HRC, indicating an anti-gay-rights stance. (Dec 2006)
Rated 22% by the NAACP, indicating an anti-affirmative-action stance. (Dec 2006)

Could help bolster his base as he appears to be a good ol' boy just helping families with aging parents and grandparents.
