Jeb Bush says sorry to France for 'French workweek' jibe during TV debate
Reuters
Wednesday 4 November 2015 03.46 GMT
Jeb Bushs rebooted campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination included an apology to the French on Tuesday for making a joke about their work ethic.
I made the mistake of saying that the Congress operates on a French workweek, Bush told reporters in a deadpan voice while campaigning in New Hampshire, according to Time magazine. I really did a disservice to the French.
During last weeks debate among the Republican candidates, Bush had criticized one of his rivals, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, for missing votes, as well as Congress in general for working a three-day week. I mean, literally, the Senate what is it, like a French workweek? Bush had asked.
His comment drew a rebuke from the French ambassador, Gerard Araud, and emails from French journalists and was part of a lackluster debate performance for the former Florida governor.

(54,445 posts)2. I'm in France today for work
1.) Most French people don't know who Jeb Bush is
2.) After "Freedom Fries" and "Freedom Toast" most French people don't give a rat's ass what ANY Republican says.
3.) The French are FAR better at dissing France than anyone else. Republicans are rank amateurs by comparison.

with his new effort to revive his campaign. He began to sound like a regular campaigner UNTIL he said that ANY of the GOP candidates would be better than Hillary and something about the failed Presidency of Obama.
