And a box or rocks wouldn't openly support a Repuke the way Debbie did. hobbit709 Nov 2015 #19

Of course I have no idea if she's smart in politics but she seems to be, well, smart.

Because she understands the issues, she isn't afraid to connect with the base and she's demonstrated (CFPB) she has actual solutions to problems.
In a nutshell.

Probably not the best - Elizabeth Warren would be better. But he's popular and won't have much to do soon.

He's smart, a successful fundraiser, believes in a "50 state" local elections matter policy, he's much more amenable than DWS to listen to people outside his own circle, he's responsive to public opinion, and demonstrated an ability to change his mind based on that "listening"/"responsiveness" when he changed his position on the debate debacle specifically because he recognized the public disapproval of the policy being enacted and enforced by DWS.

He's also a clear and eloquent spokesperson for Democratic values who has a demonstrated success of promoting and selling those values to traditional Republican bases of support. (White males, rural voters, self-identifying "traditional Christians", "blue-collar" workers.) Most importantly, he has a record of electoral successes both as a candidate and an organizer.

At one point, Alan Grayson would have fit that bill nicely; however, he's had some issues of late.

I think the cacophony of mass caterwauling and lamentation might trigger a seismic event though.
