http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/fraternal-order-police-quentin-tarantino-837394To paraphrase JFK, it is time to smash them into a million pieces(police unions).
It is something that both Calvin Coolidge and FDR would agree upon.

Sorry, FOP, but this "we-are-perfect-how-dare-anyone-criticise-us-special-snowflakes" crap does you no favors. This really makes the union look petty and childish, lacking in impulse control, vindictive and too dysfunctional to accept criticism.
NOT people who should be running around with guns, I'd say.
Grownups realize that cops, doctors, teachers etc have good and bad eggs in their profession. But too many cops today seem to think a badge makes every cop a perfect angel with the best of intentions. Like the rest of us can't figure out that they are just weak humans like the rest of us, as tempted by their rage/debt/lust to do the same stupid shit humans have done forever.
It really destroys cop credibility when they handle people's opinions like petulant, hormonal middle schoolers. Grow up, FOP, for god's sake.

(3,919 posts)a fraternal order - they can do no wrong and if they do, it is hushed and they all close ranks around one another - no matter what.
& this is bound to lead to twisted and sick.

(1,214 posts)I think Jim Pasco at a minimum should be removed from his position for legal, pragmatic and ethical reasons.
Legally it seems that Pasco is inciting officers to harass a private citizen , which ought to be against the law if it isn't already.
Pragmatic - If the police arrest, for a legitimate cause, I would certainly use the quote to muddy the waters with a jury. I would think undermining prosecutors with inflammatory statements.
Ethical - calling for police officers to intimidate someone because you don't like what they say is violates the spirit if not the intention of the First Amendment.

This is harassment and intimidation--pure and simple.

Particularly in a "union" that borrowed the entirety of its business model directly from the Mafia, right down to the omerta.

Why lie and fuel the fire? Are cops this delusional? Move over mafia.

(20 posts)The right time and place will come up..and well try to hurt him in the only way that seems to matter to him, and thats economically, he said.
This seems to be the direct quote but I only found it in one media source. Others didn't forget to put in the word, "threat," but left out "economically," ---which is what I immediately thought of: the police union is going to organize a boycott of Tarantino's film! Duh!
