Group not allowed to fly Confederate flag at local veteran’s parade (MO)

... “That's what it was all about was states’ rights. They wanted the state to be like its own nation where as Lincoln wanted a unified government,” said Madura. “They didn't want the flag in there and I'm assuming that it is because of the Ferguson and South Carolina and all that stuff” ...

“We look for symbols that unite us. And like I said before, this parade is to celebrate those who fought for the United States not the divided states,” said Schneider.

Florissant officials said the group is allowed to march, but not wave the Confederate flag.

Members of the group said if they can’t fly their flags, they will not be attending the parade.
