there, according to Yahoo! News:
https://www.yahoo.com/politics/ben-carsons-campaign-admits-he-lied-about-west-181600104.html
Politico reported Friday that Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson did not as he has claimed repeatedly receive a full scholarship to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
In fact, Carsons campaign admitted that the former neurosurgeon not only fabricated the story of his acceptance into the prestigious military academy, but he never actually applied. This concession came after Politico obtained evidence from a West Point spokesperson that the academy has no record of Carsons application or his admission calling into question a key piece of the presidential hopefuls personal history.

On edit: Apparently now the campaign is straightening out this misunderstanding about his nonexistent application. Now they are saying that he didn't apply. But he sure made it sound like he did.

(62,444 posts)Some days I think I could do a better job coming up with bullshit than their own campaigns.
I mean Obama is still covering up his real birth certificate since everyone accepted that forgery. Erasing Carson's West Point records is a snap.
They already covered up Carson's Nobel Prize, so he doesn't even mention it anymore since he can no longer prove it.

His scholarship to West Point was just the beginning of his secret career...

(2,419 posts)Carson's story was complete B.S. from the get go. Nobody is "offered a full scholarship to West Point". That's simply not how it works. Everyone who is accepted, not only doesn't pay tuition, but is also paid a stipend to attend. Same with all of the military academies as well as the Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. That does not even get to the necessity for a nomination, a physical, a background check and an accepted application. The very statement that he was "offered a full scholarship" is complete and utter nonsense and doesn't take an investigative reporter to understand that. The guy just can help but spew lies and made up stories. Maybe he can get Stephen Glass to write his biography.
A quick Google search would have tuned any high school paper reporter onto the truth.
Sad.

I'm hearing now that he made the claim in his stupid book that will eventually hit the $1 bins at Family Dollar, etc.
