AWKWARD. Fox Dummies Realize 'Horrible' Jobs Numbers They're Reading Live Are Actually Fantastic.

Last edited Fri Nov 6, 2015, 11:23 PM - Edit history (1)

Well THAT was awkward....

Hasselbeck: "That's right Steve, ONLY 270,000 jobs were created in October, while analysts predicted that as many as 150,000 would be created. Oh, wait...er..."

Priceless!

Fox and Friends morons get prompted to read the 'horrible' job creation numbers for the month of October only 90 seconds after they were released. Lesson learned: never let the dummies that sit on that couch read LIVE news on air.

Steve Doocy reads out the 5% Unemployment Rate in an ominous monotone voice....then slowly realizes that, despite the scary RED ARROW on the graphic...that's actually a significant DROP in unemployment.

Elizabeth Hasselback then says "That's right, Steve...ONLY 271,000 JOBS were created in October..." in a scary, negative voice...then adds "when they PREDICTED that 150,000 jobs would be created..." Then the ball drops in her tiny brain, and she realizes that 271,000 is actually quite a bit HIGHER than 150,000, and that this is actually fantastic news...

Awkward. I almost felt sorry for the clowns. (Video link updated thanks to Contrary1)

Here's the abbreviated version. Watch the longer video in the Mediamatters link below. Watching them fumble as they realize the mistake they're making is priceless.

Numbers confuse me.

"That's right, Steve...ONLY 271,000 JOBS were created in October..." in a scary, negative voice...then adds "when they PREDICTED that 150,000 jobs would be created..."

..that he'd bring unemployment down to 6% by the end of his first term, which would be January 2017. To be fair to him, however, he IS a corporate raiding vulture capitalist who's used to throwing people out of work. So, you'd expect him to have a higher unemployment rate than a sensible progressive.

although the bottom one is a very poor use of a pie chart.

If 600 people out of 1000 believe Obama is doing at best a poor job, and of those 500 believe his job performance is utter horseshit, the top one is perfectly correct - simply using subset data. And also remarkably like DU at times. Ask about his performance with the TPP and it will likely be worse...

If we ask the same 1000 people whether they could back Candidates X Y or Z, and got 700 saying yes for X and 630 saying yes for Y etc (it's not just possible but usual to be able to back more than one candidate; like many here I'd be happy with any of our remaining options for one) then the results in the second one are accurate, just a terrible choice of chart to show them, since the only reason a pie chart is valuable at all is to show the distribution of the whole among a limited number of non-overlapping options.

This doesn't mean FNC isn't a cesspit of lies distortion and propaganda aimed at morons. It surely is. It just means these charts are poor examples of that.

and she says they predicted 180k, not 150k

so maybe you could clean up the OP a bit for accuracy?

Thanks for reporting this, though!

These people are criminals and Fox "News" is a criminal organization.

One day, the people will take back this country and these criminals will be punished.
