Cyclone Megh Intensifying Arabian Sea; Unprecedented Back-to-Back Threat for Socotra Island, Yemen

http://www.wunderground.com/news/cyclone-megh-five-yemen-socotra-somalia-arabian-peninsula

Cyclone Megh, another Arabian Sea tropical cyclone, is intensifying and heading toward Socotra Island Sunday and may track to mainland Yemen roughly one week after Cyclone Chapala made an extremely rare pass through the region, triggering destructive flash flooding.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the agency sanctioned by the World Meteorological Organization for issuing official tropical cyclone bulletins for the Arabian Sea, the center of Cyclone Megh is about 265 miles (about 430 kilometers) east of Socotra Island, an island about 150 miles east of the Horn of Africa in the central Arabian Sea.

Cyclone Megh strengthened quickly overnight Friday night into Saturday into a Category 1 equivalent storm, with an eye becoming apparent in infrared satellite imagery. Megh is a tiny cyclone, with tropical storm-force winds extending only up to 65 miles from its center, according to the 10 a.m. EST Saturday advisory from the U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center.

There's more than 1000 miles between this and Syria, I would guess. Not sure how this would effect the Syrian civil war or refugees. Unless you mean Somalia but this isn't going in that direction.

On edit - yeah, more like 1500 mi depending on where in Syria

Yemen conflict: No end in sight, six months on
In an age of 24/7 news coverage, social media and videos going viral, the war in Yemen must rank as one of the most under-reported in recent times, despite a few brave visits by intrepid journalists and film crews.
Yemen can be a remote, difficult and dangerous country to cover, and that is in peace time.
Now, six months after Saudi-led air strikes against Iranian-backed Houthi rebels began on 26 March, the war in Yemen has taken a terrible toll on the Arab world's poorest nation, with both sides accused of committing war crimes and most of the casualties being caused by the aerial bombing.
