Just a reminder HOW fucked-up and undemocratic US-elections are

Why is election-day a Tuesday?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Election_Day_%28United_States%29

Because you go to the polling-place by horse-carriage, there's market-day on Wednesday and travelling on the Sabbath is unbiblical.

Just how unreliable is your electronic voting-machine?

http://www.wired.com/2015/09/dismal-state-americas-decade-old-voting-machines/

Most states use voting-machines that are at least 10 years old. Some use machines that are even at least 15 years old.

Have you recently tried to turn your 10-year-old PC back on?

(The lifetime of microchip-electronics is up to 10 years. Internal diffusion-processes alter the electronic attributes of the doped semiconductors in the microchips, leading to ever-increasing aberrations from the nominal behavior over time. After about a decade, there's a serious risk of critical malfunctions, especially if the electronics aren't stored in a cold environment.)

(Let's not even talk about mechanical failures like touchscreens altering your votes because they slipped out-of-place because the glue no longer works after 10 years.)

In addition to this problem, a number of voting machine vendors have gone out of business, making it difficult for states to find parts to service their machines. Forty-three states use systems that are no longer manufactured. Some election officials have resorted to scouring eBay for decommissioned equipment they can cannibalize to extend the life of their machines. Georgia was in such dire straits over the lack of parts for its voting machines that it hired a consultant to build customized hardware that could run its Windows 2000-based election system software.

...

The federal government is well aware of the problem of aging machines. In January 2014, the Presidential Commission on Election Administration issued a report (.pdf) warning of an “impending crisis … from the widespread wearing out of voting machines purchased a decade ago.” But so far, lawmakers have done nothing to remedy the situation.

Don't worry, frightened citizens! The Republican-controlled Congress will jump into action right after they repealed Obamacare, defunded Planned Parenthood and shut the government down!

Just how meaningless is your vote?

- Your vote doesn't count. The votes of the Electoral College count.
- Small states have a disproportional advantage in the Electoral College. A vote in Wisconsin counts 3 times as much as a vote in California.
- In 24 states, the Electors aren't even legally obligated to vote in accordance with the election-outcome.
- Most states are actually somewhat halfway split between Republicans and Democrats. But winner-takes-all means that a vote for the minority is meaningless.
