Jean Jillien was the creator or this piece of art. http://www.jeanjullien.com/ Lots of people were confused about who created it and not picking on anyone here just giving the artist his due. https://twitter.com/jean_jullien/status/665305363500011521

I’ve worked in the arts most of my working life, and I’m very sensitive about attribution. Thank you for pointing this out!

a short interview. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/art/what-to-see/jean-jullien-peace-for-paris-symbol/ And you are welcome. I probably would not of known except I watch the story unfold on twitter. Then I went looking for more info on the artist so found more back and forth.

I really love the photograph Banksy has up on his website (with the disclaimer that he isn’t on FB or twitter)!

The terrorists?

Not sure they're very interested.

The French?

I'm pretty sure they were on board, for all the good it did.

Empty symbolism.

Those who don't want peace will never be influenced by peace symbols. Isis and its followers don't give a shit about peace symbols, they have no remorse.

France was at peace before 129 people were massacred. To whom are these peace appeals being made?

audiences in a time when, yet again, public opinion is divided on war and peace. If you search for it, you will find there have been many impromptu performances on the streets of Paris playing and singing "Imagine", instead of "La Marseillaise", a call to arms.

From an earlier time in Paris during a March for Unity.
