In my opinion, the suburbs of Paris may be the area where many of the ISIS volunteers have come from in the last couple of years. It has been known for some time that there are a large number of Muslims in and around Paris and the French government has not done a good job at integrating them into their society. Most of them are moved to the poor areas on the outskirts of the city.

I think this would be a good area for the French to start looking for the culprits of this horrendous massacre. They may have received outside assistance and guidance but my hunch is that it developed right under their noses.

Locals would have their roots in the Maghreb, west north Africa. Perhaps parents, perhaps recent immigrants. But the 2nd language there is French to this day because of continuing ties to France. They'd appear to be locals.

The same was true in much of Syria and Lebanon, which were also French back in the day. Syrians speak much less French, but it's still not uncommon in Lebanon.

It's a question of accent and fluency at that point. But if you're yelling, a lot of foreign or regional accent tends to vanish.

I'm confident the authorities are doing what they can to track the other individuals (and the group) that is behind this.

Last I heard they shut down all of the borders. How long they'll be able to continue to keep people from going in or out who knows? After 9/11 our own boarders were closed for quite awhile. Hopefully the authorities will be able to get leads within the country if there are people in France involved.

It will be weeks, maybe longer before we know for sure who was behind this. For now the only thing we can do is keep a good thought for the victims and their families.
