The French authorities should consider the possbility of a National Front role in these attacks.

France has elections in about a month. It will do the National Front(FN) enormous political good that these attacks have occurred

And the FN has roots in the OAS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organisation_de_l%27arm%C3%A9e_secr%C3%A8te), a terrorist group of former French soldiers who committed numerous bombings in the name of preventing Algeria from gaining its independence from France(FN founder Jean-Marie Le Pen is an unapologetic OAS veteran), as well as ties to extremist right-wing and anti-immigrant parties, some of them violent, throughout Europe.

It would be a simple matter for the FN to arrange attacks like this, and they likely have some supporters who would willingly die(and kill)for their essentially fascist and racist cause. They could even find "pieds-noirs&quot descendats of the 900,000 Franco-Algerians who fled to France after Algeria won its independence) to impersonate Islamic extremists. A significant number of "pieds-noirs" are FN voters.

Islamic fundamentalist terrorists committed this atrocity. It wasn't the French right wing, it wasn't the Jooooz, and it wasn't a CIA false flag.

But seriously, you and the others posting this claptrap need to take your paranoia and put it in your sock drawer at least until all the blood has been hosed off the sidewalks of Paris.

It's the decent thing to do.

The French authorities are smart enough to know what's up.

This could be used to lead to another war...even though no war could do anything to stop things like this.

The OAS targeted political and military opponents, not innocent civilians, and more than a few pieds noirs opposed them. France has had many violent chapters, but domestic terrorism hasn't been one of them.

It's not possible for AQ and ISIL to have done this together-those two groups despise each other.

We need to consider all possibilities and avoid any attempts to rush us to war.

Once we are in another war, all hopes for anything positive for the world will die.

Islamists did this. I know DU loves to make excuses for them but I'm not playing that game. Sometimes things really are just as obvious as they seem.

You're asking us to believe a group of National Front thugs were sufficiently dedicated to this false flag operation that they were willing to strap on suicide belts and die for the cause?

Come on, Ken. That's loopy.

when a "rush to war" gets started. It never takes us anywhere good to just jump to the conclusions Western militarists want us to jump to. All possibilities need to be investigated.

ISIL is horrible, but there's nothing that can be done about them. We don't even know where for sure to bomb.

one way or the other so early in the investigation. While it's probably true that these suicide bombers and terrorists were indeed Islamic extremists, it's not outside the realm of possibility that a terrorist group could have been infiltrated by right-wing extremists encouraging such an act. The French right wing, Marine LePen, et al., are the ones most likely to benefit in the long run from this attack. Who loses? France's Muslim community, Syrian refugees and so on.

As we look back on our own 9/11, the details of what really happened are still difficult to determine. MIHOP or LIHOP. See, e.g., http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027339281. And who benefited?

as usual:

Nicolas Sarkozy, the former French president, has been speaking to the media.

"We need to understand how such attacks are possible and grasp the consequences.

"Our foreign policy must reflect the fact that we are at war. Our internal security policy as well. We need be able to adapt to ensure the security of France."

Sarkozy said his party would support the “drastic strengthening of security measures to protect the lives of our compatriots.”

"Our nation must be united. Our history is full of hardship, we always knew how to overcome it, we will overcome this one with composure, determination and strength."

This is obviously in German, but a rough translation of a few paragraphs:

"Days ago Bavarian police arrested a suspected accomplice of the Paris assassins. "We had an arrest as a result of the dragnet controls which there is reason to believe is related to this matter," the Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer on Saturday before an appearance at Saxony-Neukieritzsch.

"The spokesman of the Bavarian Office of Criminal Investigation said that on Thursday of last week, a 51 year-old from Montenegro was arrested on the autobahn. In his VW-Golf were found eight automatic pistols, two revolvers, and two additional pistols. Bavarian Radio also reported that ammunition and several kilos of TNT were hidden in the vehicle.

"According to investigators' circles, Bavarian Radio reported, the documents (or records) seized contained significant indications that the man was headed to Paris. Immediately after the arrest the Office of Criminal Investigation contacted their French counterparts and informed them of the details. The spokesman of the Office of Criminal Investigation warned that nonetheless, a connection with the French attacks is speculative."
