Fair should not abide sale of Confederate flag (NY)

... It would not mean the fair board is taking a side in the debate about the causes of the Civil War.

It would not mean the fair board was interfering with anyone’s right to buy a Confederate flag or to string it up on their pickup truck or to use it as a Snuggly while watching “Dukes of Hazzard.”

It would not have anything to do with the Constitution or the First Amendment. The fair owns the fairgrounds and has the right and the authority to tell vendors what they can and cannot sell ...

The Confederate flag is offensive — not to everyone, but to enough people that it should not be displayed and sold at the county’s premier public event ...
