...they make all the classic statements about US imperialism and evil US / EU colonialism and evil western civilization.

Make no mistake you could post one of their statements here and it would get hundreds of recs without context. You could post it on any liberal forum or even conservative forum and people would cheer and regal the wonderful philosophy displayed. (Obviously you'd have to take out the "kill everyone" rhetoric.)

But the truth of the matter is that ISIS's objective is not freedom or some lofty anti-imperialist goal.

It's to create a fully Islamist State that is beyond the pale across the entire globe. Complete subjugation.

And because of that it can never survive. It is a death spiral of an ideology. It is simply only a matter of time before it is eradicated (from within, of course, since the ideology is unsustainable; it's one thing to ban alcohol, make women wear hijab, ban drugs and execute anyone with them, etc all the while giving everyone a living wage, like the Saudi's do; it's another thing entirely and fully to take over entire regions and subject the people to the same things, as well as execute and murder anyone who doesn't follow suit; ISIS cannot work).

islamic fundamentalism has just got stronger and stronger and spread far and wide.

Maybe something else is going on that we're not being told about.
