I don't understand people who want to help refugees, but say we should disengage

ISIS already engaged in one open genocide against minorities. Without our air support the Kurds very well could have been conquered and destroyed with hundreds of thousands of dead, if not millions.

If we just vanished from the region it would do absolutely nothing to stop the flow of refugees. The war would still be happening. Yet, people profess some crazed idea that if we just stopped being involved millennium old grudges and hatreds would go away.

The value of human life seems to suddenly increase dramatically once that human life leaves Syrian or Kurdish land. Before they leave, meh not our business.

Real easy to say "get out of there", just doubt that'll solve anything. It also does jack all to help the people there. Every major ISIS defeat has come with heavy US air support. Without that, ISIS might be in control of Baghdad, Kurdistan and who knows what else.
