Ted Cruz: Obama administration is waging a ‘war on police’

WASHINGTON–Sen. Ted Cruz said the Obama administration’s investigations of and statements about incidents involving police use of force has created “a culture where the men and women of law enforcement feel under siege.”

Cruz, during a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing he chaired titled “The War on Police,” said President Barack Obama consistently “assumes the police are guilty until proven innocent, are bad actors.”

“It’s not an accident that at the funerals of police officers,” said Cruz, “President Obama is nowhere to be found.”

Senators and witness traded barbs over everything from the hearing’s title to the groups they represented in a heated discussion of one controversial and prescient issue.
