We are going to have a political debate with Repuglicans about Syrian refugees?
Did I miss an announcement about new initiatives to destroy ISIS or help the French track down the murdering terrorists?

(85,998 posts)At the G-20 Summit in Antalya, Turkey, President Obama underscored the need for nations around the world to unite against the threat of terrorism. Here's a recap.

(6,960 posts)Let's have a Democrat vs. Repuglican spat about refugees?
Is the U.S. coordinating new bombing runs against Daesh with France and Russia?
Is the U.S. asking NATO to assist the French in the campaign against ISIS in Syria and Iraq?
Is Pres. Obama going to insist that Congress now pass a 'use of force' resolution on ISIS/Syria?
Sorry for my sarcasm, but big deal ... "We Are United Against This Threat" ... that doesn't bring justice to the 129 murdered in Paris or to the people blown-up in the airliner in Egypt or the 43 killed by ISIS terrorists in Beirut.
If Pres. Obama and Democrat leaders don't get off this refugee cat fight, then they are really going to look like they can't protect America or can get serious about taking on terrorism.
Really, I'm increasingly perplexed by just what Pres. Obama is up to.

(85,998 posts)...the U.S. will respond appropriately, in concert with the nation under attack and our regional partners. There really isn't a credible question that we won't.
You're vacillating between warmongering and concern about overreaction. I don't think I need to spend time informing you on what you're perfectly capable of discerning yourself.

(37,748 posts)It's creative that you move the goalposts from implying a lack of response on the President's part to implying a lack of understanding on your part.
One would imagine that a sincere curiosity would quickly and easily find the President's public comments in regards to Paris-- so conveniently available to anyone with an internet connection.

(5,764 posts)That making sure that ISIS does not succeed in it's effort to TERRORIZE western governments into blocking the refugee flow is one of the best possible responses to the terror attacks?
Generally preventing terrorists from getting what they want from an attack is the best possible way you can respond to said attack. You have to demonstrate that those attacks are not effective tools to change your policies.
Don't slip into the idiotic Republican mode of thinking where the only time you're "doing something" is if something is blowing up.

What complete crock of drivel. And he knows it. He also knows there's a reason for the orphan statement and for the Christian statement, yet he pretends there isn't a reason. So that means he's knowingly telling a self-serving lie, which is purely about political points.
Really? Using this crisis, and decisions about our security to score lying political points? He's the one looking bad. And it's nobody's fault but his, it's an unforced fail.

(918 posts)and petty.
The political discourse involving the resettling of Syrian refugees has devolved into idiocy. This is a humanitarian disaster that requires bold and decisive action that resettles these refugees as efficiently and humanely as possible, while also recognizing that ISIL is already boasting that they have implanted more than 4,000 of their members into refugee groups.
Clearly, any viable solution is beyond the talents and abilities of today's crop of political buffoons.

(9,766 posts)14% women, 20% children.
according to FactCheck.org you are wrong. They tell this "Ben Carson said that the majority of Syrian refugees are young males. But the United Nations figures show women outnumber men, and children 11 years old and younger, male and female, account for 38.5 percent of all refugees."
There is also this. UNHCRs data show that 50.5 percent of refugees are women. Females age 18 to 59 make up 23.9 percent of the refugees, while males in that age group make up 21.8 percent.
Even younger males age 12 to 17 represent 6.5 percent of refugees, while females that age are 6.1 percent. The majority of refugees 51.1 percent are under age 17, including 38.5 percent who are younger than 12 years old. These numbers were as of Sept. 6.

(85,998 posts)___In an apparent reversal of his position from two months ago, Christie now says that the United States is not capable of accepting any Syrian refugees for fear of importing terrorism, not even three year old orphans.
Christies callous dismissal of the plight of war orphans stands in stark contrast to his own sentiments from weeks ago. We saw the image of that 4-year-old little boy drowned in Syria, Christie said back in September, referring to the harrowing image of a young child laying motionless on a beach shore. We cant have those kinds of things.
But in an interview with conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt, Christie gave these revised comments:
Because he lacks confidence in Administration's vetting ability, @ChrisChristie says no Syrian refugees now, not even "3 year old orphans"
