French President Francois Hollande today promised that France will remain a country of freedom, defending his decision to honor a commitment to accept migrants and refugees despite Fridays deadly terrorist attacks in Paris.
Life should resume fully, Hollande told a gathering of the countrys mayors, who gave him a standing ovation. What would France be without its museums, without its terraces, its concerts, its sports competitions?
France should remain as it is. Our duty is to carry on our lives.
In the same spirit, he added, 30,000 refugees will be welcomed over the next two years. Our country has the duty to respect this commitment, explaining that they will undergo vigorous security checks.

What a pack of spineless bags of mostly water.

refugees, this while refugees from dozens of other troubled Islamic regions are also seeking new homes.
Pretty funny when you think of it. And SO impressive, like this announcing an executive order from Georgia's Nathan Deal:
In light of the terror attacks in Paris, Ive issued an executive order directing state agency heads to prevent the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Georgia, said Deal. "Further, I call upon the Obama administration to work with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security to confirm the backgrounds of the 59 Syrian refugees recently resettled to ensure they do not pose a security threat to our citizens. Until the federal government and Congress conducts a thorough review of current screening procedures and background checks, we will take every measure available to us at the state level to ensure the safety of Georgians.
"Lord," they think we're dumb. And, of course, they're more than half right.

It's sad that chest-thumping rightwingers can't have a small portion of the gumption the French people have shown during their national tragedy.
It's equally sad that so many Americans have already forgotten how they were duped the last time the sabre rattlers took the stage.
