6. You should mock their fears in the context of fact, such as the fact that this country had a ban on

travel and immigration by people with HIV for 22 years, until Obama. Democrats did not object to this mindless ban which prevented many millions from freely engaging in life.

I have to assume that people who fearfully banned people with HIV from coming to the US for more than 2 decades might be able to understand people whose fears cause them to want to ban people from coming to the US.
This 'fear of letting the other in' routine is not as foreign to Democrats as you might want to think. Something to consider.
