Greed in the form of capitalism, and everything that comes with it (environmental disaster, exploitation and destruction of the planet's resources and human beings, its intimate relationship to nationalism and racism); and
Superstition in the form of all religions with a perpetually pissed-off and psychotic godhead that "needs appeasement."

(33,688 posts)4. Seeing that hour of Cosmos nearly 35 years ago
changed nearly everything I had ever thought about life and the universe, and did so forever. Sagan's thoughts and words therein are the closest thing to a moral and intellectual creed I have ever had.

that I hold for Joseph Campbell; and it was 25 years ago I watched The Power of Myth, which set my life's vision.
