Most Americans want the U.S. to stop letting in Syrian refugees amid fears of terrorist infiltrations after the Paris attacks, siding with Republican presidential candidates, governors, and lawmakers who want to freeze the Obama administrations resettlement program.
The findings are part of a Bloomberg Politics national poll released Wednesday that also shows the nation divided on whether to send U.S. troops to Iraq and Syria to fight the Islamic State, an idea President Barack Obama opposes, and whether the U.S. government is doing enough to protect the homeland from a comparable attack.

Point of the function of DU is to vent ugliness to relieve the possibility of doing so in polite company.

not properly informed about the extensive screening process that refugees must endure. If they only knew the process, I have no doubt that the number who wish to close our border to Syrian refugees would drop to zero.

(7,107 posts)Maybe they don't know the US isn't just opening the doors to anyone.
It's easy to call 64% of the population assholes and mock them. It takes a more mature approach to understand their concerns and address those concern rationally.
Sure a certain percentage are Right wing crazies and can't be reasoned with. However, a good percentage needs more than name calling to change their minds.

In the meantime, I will delete the part where I call them "asssholes" so their feelings won't be hurt.

(32,025 posts)We have not had relations with Syria for years and the country is in the middle of a chaotic civil war. No way for FBI to properly vet them. They testified that to Congress 9 months ago.
