Jeb! Proposes Additional Force, Ground Troops To Defeat ISIS

http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/jeb-bush-proposes-additional-force-ground-troops-defeat-isis-n465716

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush called for American troops on the ground in the Middle East to defeat ISIS.

At a speech focusing on national security at the Citadel in South Carolina, the former Florida governor said, "Militarily, we need to intensify our efforts in the air - and on the ground."...

A president Jeb Bush would be the third Bush to commit troops in the Middle East. His father, George H.W. Bush, waged the mostly popular Iraq War known as Desert Storm, and his brother George W. Bush launched another war in Iraq that was largely unpopular that led to the ouster of Saddam Hussein. He also engaged in Afghanistan, which led to the longest war in U.S. history, to fight al Qaeda.

U.S. troops will not fight alone, Bush said, insisting that the U.S. would instead lead a "global coalition" to defeat ISIS "with overwhelming force." A military operation would be assisted by NATO and Arab allies.

O rly, Jeb!? Where are the Arab allies of whom you speak? Well, one of them is busy cutting checks for brand-new white Toyotas.

to die for the aristocrats so they don't have to. The aristocracy has far better things to do, like robbing the last dime from the peasantry.

Ground troops in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria--what's next, Yemen, Libya? How about we just be patient and grind them down with airstrikes and prevent oil movement or sales? Who the fuck can conceive of another war like Iraq or Afghanistan right now? They still aren't resolved! These people are insane.

At a presidential presser, people kept asking "And when are we going to get the troops out of Costa Rica?" "And when are we going to get the troops out of (another country)?" "And when are we going to get the troops out of (another country)?" "And when are we going to get the troops out of (another country)?" And so on.

So, what is Jeb! willing to commit, what is he willing to sacrifice? For our last two wars, we cut taxes on all the wealthy people and sent the children of the poor and middle class (mostly) off to kill and die. That hasn't worked out so well; we still haven't paid all the bills that came due from Jeb!'s brother's excellent foreign adventures.

If you want a war, Jeb!, you're going to have to do it differently.

First, let's bring back the draft. If this is the existential battle for the planet that you think it is, there should be no exemptions, no deferments. Everybody's number goes into those big drums (they're all filled with their little capsules and ready to go), and the military gets all the high number draftees.

Second, we need to pay for this war and the last two. I think a 10% surcharge on all earned income above $100,000, as well as on capital gains. If you're turning a fat profit in the midst of all this commitment and sacrifice, you're in the best position to help pay for it. Time to step up. We also need a commitment and sacrifice from our corporate citizens, so their earnings need to be dedicated first to the war effort and only as an afterthought to the compensation packages for the executives.

I'll have some more suggestions when Jeb! signs on to these first two.
