I also heard Tom on NPR today say (apprently not seeing the irony) that we needed to be sure we weren't letting in people who would shoot up a theater.
Seriously? I mean, really... The mass shootings here are all angry white guys.

(4,462 posts)but I don't recall any sections or Amendments to the Constitution guaranteeing the right of foreigners to enter and reside in the USA, Syrian refugee or otherwise.
However, to the chagrin of many, Americans have a fundamental right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment, and such right certainly cannot be limited as the basis of race due to, among other provisions, the Fourteenth Amendment.
We also live in a democracy, and support for firearm ownership, even among while males, is substantially more popular than admitting Syrian refugees, particularly with explicit ISIS threats to infiltrate the country among the refugees.
