Oleg Sentsov is an ukrainian citizen from Crimea. He was arrested in Crimea in May 2014 by the Russians on suspicion of planning to carry out terrorist attacks. He was then flown to Moscow.

The process was marred by international criticism of falsified evidence, tortured witnesses and witnesses being jailed for refusing to cooperate.
Russia banned ukrainian authorities from contacting or helping Sentsov.
Oleg Sentsov confessed to the terrorism-charges but later back-tracked, saying he was coerced into confessing with torture and threats of rape.

Today, Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years of jail on the terrorism-charges, in Moscow, by a russian court, though he's an ukrainian citizen and never applied for russian citizenship.
