In New Hampshire today, a man calling himself Vermin Supreme filed for the presidential primary.
He said in his administration, every American will receive a pony.
He also plans to defeat ISIS by going back in time.
Oh, and he wears a large boot on his head.

(33,688 posts)a woman who spoke five languages and was working on her Ph D dissertation in medieval history at the time, told me I MUST read them. She'd already recommended Robertson Davies to me and I figured if they were good enough for her very picky tastes and standards they'd be more than good enough for me. I was right.

My friend Christine recommended all of his novels, so I read them all. A supreme storyteller and observer of the foibles of the human condition who sometimes weaves some magical realism subtleties in to his ezquisitely crafted prose.
Start with The Deptford Trilogy as I did - it's usually available under one cover by that title. You WILL be hooked. Never read a word he wrote that I didn't love.
I am not a huge reader of fiction, but Davies is one of the writers who make you proud to be a human being.
