This cop that pumped 16 shots into McDonald and murdered him - was he still working as a cop over the last 14 months before the charges were leveled on him?
I heard that he was cited over the years approximately 20 times. I don't think he was ever disciplined. Does anyone here know?

I don't know if was on active duty but I did read that he was no longer being paid by CPD

But it didn't say when his pay stopped.

As soon as he was charged with murder, Van Dyke's police paycheck stopped.

They suspended him without pay when they charged him.

Van Dyke, a police officer for 14 years, was stripped of his police powers after an eight-day conduct review immediately after the Oct. 20, 2014, shooting of McDonald, according to police.
He had been on paid administrative leave since the shooting, police said.
They suspended him without pay when they charged him.
