the defenders of democracy we honor today.

I served a year in the Vietnam war. I never felt I was defending democracy then and I still feel that way today. I wasn't helping to make the world safe for democracy as they told me I was doing.

The greatest threat to democracy in my life time is happening today. The right and their corporate bosses are trying to take away our democracy and replace it with their oligarchy.

Everyone of you who are fighting the takeover of our country by the corporations is defending democracy and I than you for your service. You are the ones who are making the world safe for democracy.

those who seek to disenfranchise voters, as a starting place.

To paraphrase Muhammad Ali, no Viet Cong ever told me I couldn't vote.
