I'd say a group is worth it. Are there Meet-Up groups for it in your area? As it's often a "nerd" game, you might find news about groups at comic book stores and college campuses. I've seen people even play over Skype

I'd love to get a set of these:

leather or cloth to roll on ...rolling those on 'card stock' (like a game board) or a wood or glass table...umm not a good idea

lotta other manufacturers out there but i really like their dwarven series
they do dwarven 'metal' (3 color bronze brass and stainless i think and different sizes)
dwarven stone (semi precious and birthstones..so you could have for instance jasper dice set)
dwarven special stone (from meteorites and so on..price goes up...sharply)

and then of course the plastics

Of course, the stretched ones on their site caught my eye. I've never seen that design before, and have to wonder how they roll compared to 'normal' shapes.

The only metal dice I have were made in a materials science class back in drafting college. They basically turned us all loose in a metal shop without any instruction. So, I messed around on the milling machine and made a pair of brass 6-side dice and one extra-large aluminum one. None are very accurate in shape or placement of the dots, but they wowed my friends for a while

They also made dents in things, even with leather mats

welcome (link)

here's another more for finding games and stuff for games
(incl char sheets)

http://www.enworld.org/

the stretch roll very well (i've been allowed to roll a few of a friend of mine (she's a dice 'fanatic') had to bless the dice after so i didn't 'ruin their juju'

the only metal i had seen before going to that store were the metal ones i made and 'shaved' in machine shop (and i did that to plastic ones too
(shaving has a 'special' meaning as i'm sure you know)

but our room mate at the time said 'you get a green card, i'll dm a 1ed add with the kids and everyone' so i needed dice and now...they go everywhere with me

kinda funny 2 people make same kinda dice ( mine rolled 2 and 5 :-p )

Yeah, one of the brass dice is blank, no longer remember why. I guess I could always paint numbers or letters on it to customize it. They all make satisfying *clunks* when they roll. The one translucent green die was formerly a set for cheating at craps (not that I ever played or cheated.) It would have been all fives. I either lost it, or another gamer took it.

Your friend that requires one to bless them after rolling is much like how people that use oracle cards treat their decks. I'm curious what her blessing is (The spell of making from Excalibur comes immediately to mind )

Honored to meet you, too!

And no, nothing about it is accurate. I have no idea how much material was removed in comparison to the other side. It's probably unbalanced. At the same time, it's so big that it's too difficult to get a decent roll out of it anyway. It's really just for pulling out of the bag and making people go "Wow!"

A DU group would be great
Although, my characters tend to be either healers, or thieves. I might not be as well-liked in the latter category, especially if we ever play any games of chance in bars/inns

I just took a look at the Gaming group here, but it's only for video games, it seems. Maybe we need to request the making of a RPG group. I've met plenty more DUers in the past that play or have played. Many of them hang out in the Lounge, too.

I picked it up again last year after a thirty year hiatus (precise same group of dysfunctional idiots (plus two) that I played with 1984) . But unless you're looking for or advertising players, I don't think there would be any overarching theme or purpose of the group.

I've been playing ever since, but skipped 4E for Pathfinder (a couple of sessions with 4E were enough to convince me the rules sucked). I've got no desire to return to the WotC version with 5E. Ever since the Core Rules 2 CD plus the Expansion back in 2E, I've not been willing to play any RPG that does not have the core rules released electronically. I've been doing all my campaign preparation on computers since the 80s and simply do not want to return to having RPG books open at the same time when I should be easily able to access the core rules in a window on the computer.
