This latest attack on PP is not likely to stop the anti PP movement. It could be more aggressive and even more violent. I see little evidence that the RW fundamentalists will relent from the endless assault on not just abortion but all reproductive rights nationwide. They have made it clear that there is NO negotiation on the issue of contraceptive availability itself.
In their mind they are succeeding and will double down to close PP and other women's health care facilities that even deal with reproductive rights unless it is THEIR WAY. No other system of women's health can exist except their policy. It is written in stone that they plan to prevail despite all opposition.
This latest incident is only the beginning and they will use religion to hide behind their form of domestic terrorism because it is God's will. And we have an entire GOP slate of candidates who enthusiastically support and woo them. We can see what is going to happen by the response we are getting from the GOP and it allies. Even the media is going along with the denialism. And the federal government is cautious in reacting.
They are covering their tracks even as they secretly plan more mayhem. The rhetoric and vitriol will continue along with all the other meanness that is coming out.
How do we go on the offensive or challenge these forces that use the excuse that apposing them is a persecution of their religion because that is what they believe and it is sacrosanct?
Let's face it a lot of women's reproductive choice has already been severely diminished or removed in many areas of the country. Women have already been inconvenienced severely in the pursuit of their reproductive choices. And the "anti" movement has succeeded. The latest maneuvers are the END GAME to them where they will succeed in their efforts.

They are so ignorant and willing to believe all the lies. I have tangled with a few of them. Zealots. Crazy.

(22,000 posts)The #shoutoutyourabortion is a good start. The anti-choice people hide behind their religious beliefs and think that that we should be forced to believe what they do. Any group that is tied to violence should be shutdown immediately and their leaders jailed on terrorism charges. The DOJ should be sending a clear message that violence against clinics will result in swift action toward those involved.

(40,416 posts)That may be more of a long term approach, though because the GOP pretty much has everything but the Oval Office locked in. We have a very good chance of taking back the US Senate next year. But we should also be working on turning around Democrats' dismal recent results in governorships and state legislatures. The former might be easier because statewide races cannot be gerrymandered.
As to that, we can push for more equitable districting policies, eliminating the situation where one party in power has control of the decisions. All redistricting should be handled by bipartisan committees. Everywhere! We only have until 2020 to get that done. That will make a huge difference.
That may be the best way to change things on almost all of our critical issues, including women's health freedoms.
It is going to take some time because we have been short sighted and have let the opposition gain awesome strength.
You ask very good questions. However, I have no other solutions that I can see.
