something odd popped up on CNN tonight re: Trump's pastors meeting

Don Lemon, host. I did not catch the name of the AA woman pastor who was on the panel, and who was the only pastor on the show who did NOT support Donald Trump.

She was recounting the negotiation she had had prior to this meeting today. She turned down the invitation to meet with Trump when she learned that endorsements would be expected.

She mentioned that she had asked the organizer of this Trump + pastors meeting if she would get "compensation" and "expenses" and "airfare" paid to attend that meeting.

Is that standard?? Invite a professional clergy group to your political candidate meeting where you expect endorsements and after which there will be a press conference.......and PAY those people to come??

Is this a little ugly glitch to this Trump tete-a-tete?

I never thought this country's ethics would diminish as low as it has become.

I think it definitely was a slip of something that we would never know about. She was arguing with the fellow that had organized the meeting. It was almost like Jerry Springer show for a few minutes. He would just not shut up and let her talk.

But I wonder if only Trump pays supporters to come to meetings where endorsements are expected.

I remember when Bush had met privately with a large group of pastors in a large tent one evening during his campaign. There was a picture of the tent (pretty sure I saw it on DU) that I still remember in my mind.

With so many religions & differences in beliefs, I'm confident that our forefathers intended a separation of church & state.

This political grappling for religious leaders' public endorsements is so wrong, considering how their followers would generally do anything their leaders asked of them. Whether she meant to reveal Trump's conditions or not, it's poetic justice that CNN picked it up. (Wonder if they'll make this an issue?)

allowing the Lady Bishop to speak. Paraphrasing her, she had no intentions of endorsing Trump!

Trump does not speak for Black Americans but somehow some of the pastors endorsed him, blew my mind.

That guy was a piece of work. He has been a friend of The Donald for many years. Probably on Trump's payroll.

I didn't see the exchange but I'm glad someone tried to expose the bs going on behind the scenes.

I suggested as much in another thread. Would he bribe a group of AAs or Hispanics for their endorsements?

"The mob connections of Donald are extraordinarily extensive," New York investigative journalist Wayne Barrett told CNN in an interview.

Of course he would.
