Cash under the mattress totaling more than 15,000 euro, jewelry and other valuable items such as diamonds and gemstones, should be declared to electronic system of tax authorities, Taxisnet, as of 1. January 2016.
Next to properties and vehicles and shares, now the taxpayers will also have to declare their deposits.
And not only that. They will have to fill if they rent bank lockers and if yes, also the name of the bank and the branch, even if abroad.
Note that this Assets declaration process will initially apply to lawmakers, journalists, public servants etc and is the rehearsal for the creation of the electronic property & assets register that will be extended to all taxpayers.
Governments, as a rule, do not have a habit of DECREASING taxation rates or schemes
Especially a Gov. that closed all the banks and did not open them again until they had taken depositor's money out of them.
Think it cannot happen here?
google "War on cash"
and
"Cashless society".

(32,324 posts)entitled to be aware of every item you own and where you keep it, and that it all should be taxed, taxed, taxed. They believe that should there be a net gain in the tax world, then social programs would soon increase, but in actuality, there would just be more wars.

(60,010 posts)the IRS tried to tax it as income, even tho it was a non-taxable account.
Cause the bank told them I had deposited over 9,000 dollars into an account.
Cost me 150.00 to pay a CPA to argue with them.

(37,748 posts)Never thought about it until recently when my debit/credit card expired, and the replacement I was sent turned out to be debit only, no credit.
So for the past month, I've been paying for everything with cash (except rent and utilities), and have had some rather odd encounters with low-rent employees not knowing what to do with it in certain retail locations (high-end suits and a few replacement electronics).
They state at me dumbfounded as though I given them a case of herpes. "It's cash. Really. We can use this as a mechanism for our transaction..." (and still ask me to sign the receipt... something I'll never understand).

(32,324 posts)It is a Master Card, and although a debit card, it can be run as credit.
Really helps And you never pay any late fees or anything like that - it is simply tied into your bank account. (There is a cost per transaction in certain instances, something like 1.7%.
