How to reduce the odds of being shot by an idiot with a firearm? Maybe we should make them more dangerous then cigarettes? Maybe beer?

Why is beer more dangerous than a firearm? Anyway...'idiots with firearms', not the laws of the land or which asshole on the bench said what. Maybe idiot is to harsh, maybe it is more like 'a certain type of person that should not have a firearm' but how do you know and what if they change over time?

Plus we have 300 million firearms plus...and we seem not to be in short supply of idiots...they seem to be forming around a leader.

Any one of us could potentially be the next mass killer.

We can't point to the next killer. If we could we would take their guns away.

3. So how do we control firearms?

If you cannot do All or Nothing with 300 million weapons, what is the alternative?

10. My idea is to do all we can to reduce gun ownership

legally.
An example, say a gun owner dies and leaves his/her guns to their estate or to their kids. If the kids did not want to own guns buy them for their market value or higher and destroy them.
Offer gun by back deals and destroy them.

Limit gun ownership as much as possibly legally.
Ban some weapons ammunition and supplies.

2. violence as a solution

Fundamentally the problem is that we live in a society/culture that considers violence as not only a "solution" to problems, but really far too often they see it as the primary/preferred solution. In that kind of culture, mixed with liberal availability of firearms, idiots are going to be very inspired and dangerous.

and the weapon industry feeds off them for profit and sometime to cause global (in)stability.
