Donald Trump Wants You to Know He Is Just as Silly as Ever

May 29, 2012 04:47 PM by Dennis DiClaudio | Comments:

Many people of prominence — particularly ones with pseudo-political aspirations — might feel compelled to temper the weirder, more out-there, conspiracy-theory-driven rhetoric once they've joined forces with one of the most powerful political forces in the the country. Especially on a day when they were scheduled to campaign alongside that political force.

Luckily for all of us, Donald Trump is not most people …

You have to respect that level of commitment to shameless self-parody.

Trump is all about being center stage (and drumming up an audience for his TV show, even if that audience consists largely of people craning their necks to see the equivalent of a multiple car pileup on the freeway).

He doesn't lose much with this nonsense, because he is just a public spectacle anyway, and he is merely making a spectacle of himself by squawking the birther squawk.

But Romney--now that's different. Romney makes himself look both ridiculous and entirely without principle by sucking up the the Donald, and that would be true even without the birther stuff. Add on that birther stuff, and Romney ends up looking pathetic.

Bill Maher mentioned that the same RW fundie guy who forced Romney to ditch his foreign policy guru for being gay then turned around and dissed Romney for having a backbone made of jello. The guy said that if Romney couldn't even stand up to a little bit of heat from him, then he could hardly be expected to stand up to our enemies.

Maher said that the guy made Romney his b**ch (Maher's word, not mine) and then he (the RW guy) said he hated Romney for being such a weakling!
