The bill seeks to amend the Heritage Act, which requires a two-thirds majority vote by the Legislature to change, remove or rename historical markers, monuments, buildings or streets on public property
In retrospect, I think we went a little too far in limiting what local boards and what local governments could actually do, said Jackson, a Columbia Democrat who helped write the Heritage Act.
