They are always willing for someone else's child to go to battle, but it is never OK for their child.

No matter who ends up in that ME mess they have my blessing and support. It was one thing to be afraid of poison gas in Iraq, but imagine facing the possibility of having your head cut off.

ALWAYS. Tell you what, next war, let's have a draft, with no deferments and no exceptions. Let's send rich and poor, commoner and powerful, Republican and Democrat. No exceptions. No champagne National Guard units. No medical exemptions for a cyst on your butt. No exceptions.

If we go to another war, we'll need a draft. All able-bodied men between 18 and 35 get to watch those two big drums turn and their little capsules of death come out.

If we are fighting anywhere.... draft and rationing and "wartime" taxes.

We must stop pretending we aren't fighting at home...delcared war or not.

If that doesn't end the conversation, go with, "We'll need to raise taxes to pay for it. How much will you pay?"

I guess they expect the ground forces to fight for free and if they need medical care after getting shot up, they're on their own. Kinda like how the GOP won't pay for first responders' healthcare.

chickenshits. From Cheney's numerous deferments, to the chimp's going AWOL from the Texas Guard, to Trump's explaining that attending a military-like school as a teen is like being in the military...Republicans are, with few exceptions, the most likely to start wars and the least likely to fight them.

As a consequence, these lovely little foreign wars are promoted by those who perceive a benefit mostly to themselves and their class. Being a beneficiary, they as a matter of course want to be in positions of control and to survive unscathed the implementation of force that they advocate.

Our national state of mind in economics and power is expansion/imperialism which is basically a geopolitical ponzi scheme. Bigger is better because it allows larger piles of treasure under some elitist's control.

Richard Cheney was the quintessential example of that sort of imperialist.
