Doesn't sound like a credible source.. I agree Trump's bigotry is pretty blatant anyway. Glimmer of Hope Dec 2015 #10

In a quick search I didn't find any such public statement by Trump. The quotation is "out there" (that is, it's somewhere online) so other people pick it up, but never with direct sourcing.

According to the Washington Examiner, a right-wing paper (though I don't know its editorial position vis-a-vis Trump), the line "is found in a 1991 tell-all by a former Trump employee, who alleges in his book that he heard Trump say those words to a black accountant at a Trump-owned establishment...." Article: "Fusion misattributes racist quote to Donald Trump".

You'll note from the article title that the Examiner discredits the former employee's statement, but the article text doesn't provide any further information (not even a denial from Trump, just his general denunciation of the book).

For my part, I find it plausible that Trump would say this. I also find it plausible that a fired employee would distort something he said or would outright fabricate, and that Trump would just denounce the whole book without trying to go through and correct it line-by-line. Either way, the man's a known bigot.
