(15,438 posts)1:...He got along famously with then Governor G.W. Bush in 1998 during the Sierra Blanca scandal, meeting with the Repub in Texas in order to work together on getting Vermont's nuclear waste dumped in the backyard of mostly Spanish-speaking Mexican Americans in Sierra Blanca, Texas. He cosponsored and actively pushed the bill while, in contrast, Senator Paul Wellstone fought hard against it.
2:...Although Vermonters pushed to impeach G.W. Bush, Sanders dismissed it calling it "impractical".
3:...He praised G.W. Bush in the March 21, 2003, when he supported the resolution on Iraq, stating,
"Congress expresses the unequivocal support and appreciation of the nation to the President as Commander-in-Chief for his firm leadership and decisive action in the conduct of military operations in Iraq as part of the ongoing Global War on Terrorism."
Does that make Sanders a repub in your view?
In my view, no. Because that would be pure hyperbole.

(26,060 posts)shown the proof that the worst thing about Bernie is some of his supporters. Comparing our likely nominee to this xenophobic piece of crap is so fucking low. I should be surprised someone would do that on a Democratic board but some of the Bernie supporters have proven themselves to be beyond disgusting when it comes to Hillary Clinton.

(4,463 posts)... but Logical has a point. Trump's followers top out at about 25% of the population. He may pull a bigger # if he's the republican nominee because some people will vote "against the librul", but he'll never get 51%. I'll take that opposition in the GE any day.

(4,463 posts)... a candidate for now. His bloviating - while embarrassing - is not US policy. I'm willing to put up with it for now to increase the likelihood of a GE win and a considerable amount of down ticket benefit.
