Des Moines, Iowa – The Iowa Daily Democrat recently conducted an interview with Matt Sinovic, Executive Director of Progress Iowa. Today’s article is a summary of that interview plus additional excerpts taken from their web page www.progressiowa.org/. Progress Iowa was established in 2012 as a 501(c) 4, non-partisan social welfare organization.

We chose to interview Progress Iowa to remind Iowa progressives of the critical work they perform. Progressives don’t have a rich uncle like the Koch Brothers funding their efforts. The Kochs’ extreme agenda and their far right allies must be challenged, and groups like Progress Iowa can and will build coalitions to challenge them.

Sinovic described the role of Progress Iowa this way: “to lift up others and be a megaphone for progressive voices across the state” and to promote progressive issues and hold the right wing accountable.”

“Where we are strongest is to find unique and creative ways to highlight different issues and to draw more attention to them than they would ordinarily receive,” he said.
