Not much.
We all know that Trump is just screaming what Republicans usually "dog whistle." This kind of crap has been going on to one degree or another since Nixon's "Southern Strategy." And it's greatly increased over the last decade or two.
We've ranted about it, marched against it, written and shouted about it, but it doesn't matter. There are just far too many Americans who are stupid enough, (yes STUPID ENOUGH), to buy what Trump is selling.
And you've just gotta love the Republican politicians' bullshit meme after they condemn Trump. "I'll vote for whoever the Republican candidate is."
The reality is that there is only one thing we can do to make a difference. Vote. And make sure every Dem we know also votes. Regardless of who our candidate is.
The Republican base always turns up at the polls and too many Dems don't. It's why they control the House, the Senate, and far too many states.
Not voting is the equivalent of a vote for the bigot/racist/know-nothing Party.
Vote.

(4,458 posts)greater threat is being ignored. Bernie VS Hillary is Least of "our" problems and a LOT of time is spent arguing over (in the bigger context) Nothing!
"We" should be arguing over the Best qualities of each candidate (Dems) as opposed to finding/creating arguments of Negatives.

(15,063 posts)GOP is the fascist Party, it all makes sense.
You've almost got to pity all those Archie Bunkers out there who are shitting their pants that everyone doesn't "know" that they're "The Real Americans."

(13,598 posts)Every time Trump says something appalling and simultaneously increases his poll share in the Republican primary and alienates more people outside the Republican core vote, I raise a glass to him.
Although I must admit that the prospect of a third-party run is kind of appealing too. But Rubio as Republican candidate scares me far more than Trump.

(15,063 posts)bad as, or perhaps worse than Trump.
But once we're talking about how the GOP has become the fascist Party, "worse" is just a matter of degree.

(13,598 posts)I don't think there's be much to choose between the three as presidents, but as candidates, I think there's a definite hierarchy of electability.
