Have You Heard about Maryland Congresswoman Donna Edwards? She's Running for Senate

I've been campaigning for Donna since March and another DUer said that I should post something here about her. Donna Edwards is a Congresswoman from the 4th District of Maryland. She jumped into the race to take retiring Senator Barbara Mikulski's seat last March with a push from EMILY'S List - a PAC for pro-choice Democratic women. Donna is EXTREMELY progressive. She's been known to challenge "weak Democrats" as well as Republicans on issues like Medicare and Social Security and the Violence Against Women Act that the Republicans wanted to pass without the LGBTQ protections. Her platform is:


Help small businesses create jobs to increase employment opportunities in urban communities and small towns and ensure that Wall Street can never wreck our economy again.

Protect Social Security and Medicare from Republican extremists and weak Democrats

Take on the NRA with an unwavering determination to curtail the epidemic of gun violence that threatens our children and our communities.

Fight for real campaign finance reform that keeps billionaires and big monied interests from buying our Democracy

Protect the rights of women to make their own health care decisions free from the interferences of Republican radicals.

Make debt-free higher education a right for all students.

Give our veterans the benefits and job assistance they have earned.
