A disabled man choking to death on food he bought in McDonald's was ignored by customers who stepped over him to order their own dinner, an inquest heard.
Spina bifida sufferer Mike Ore collapsed when the meal he was eating blocked his oesophagus as he sat in his wheelchair at the restaurant.
Despite falling to the floor, it was a full three minutes before anyone went to his aid.
When desperate efforts were eventually made to try and resuscitate him, diners at the McDonald's in Cheltenham High Street climbed over Mr Ore's lifeless body - by this time having turned purple - to place their own orders.
Johnny Langden was one of only three members of the public who tried to save him.
He put his fingers down Mr Ore's throat in a panicked bid to clear the blockage.
But it was too late and the 47-year-old died after being left unable to breath.
Mr Langden told Gloucestershire Coroner's Court: 'I was standing in a queue at McDonald's with my family when I saw this man in a wheelchair clearly in distress.
'I and two ladies went to his assistance and tried to remove the food from his mouth but he had turned purple in colour and I realised he was dying.
'I could not believe it but some customers stepped over his body to get to the counter.'

People are not that insensitive. I do not believe anyone would intentionally let someone die.
What an unfortunate situation.

(12,655 posts)KATMANDU, Nepal -- The story, an open secret in the crowded nylon city of Mount Everest base camp, trickled out from the high Himalayas: A British mountaineer desperate for oxygen had collapsed along a well-traveled route to the summit.
Dozens of people walked right past him, unwilling to risk their own ascents.
Within hours, David Sharp, 34, was dead.
