I'm not generally a fan of attacking potential presidential spouses, but in this case, it's legit to ask some questions.
Melania Trump was born in what is now Slovenia in 1970, so she spent the first 16+ years of her life in communist Yugoslavia.
She became a naturalized citizen in 2006.
I'm not immigrant-bashing or suggesting she's disloyal here, but do we really want a foreigner living in the White House?
This makes me uncomfortable, and I'm surprised it's not more of an issue.

There are about ten million reasons to hate and criticize Trump. His foreign-born wife is not one of them.

Oh, and the President's wife is not in line for the presidency.......or any other office, for that matter.
Wondering if anyone else around here thinks that this kind of xenophobic nonsense belongs on a progressive, democratic bulletin board. And what would it say about progressive democrats if it did?

(3,263 posts)they think about it ,she may be a suspicious furner who maybe didn't belong in the WH much like Mrs Trump
I guess my additional comment was because some xeno types sometimes give a pass if one is foreign born but raised in the US but not to adults immigrating .
However I will add now that you asked for a reply that also the xeno often factor in color and beliefs to their phobic equation of which citizens belong where and at what age if any, they will give a pass to foreign born.
The OP is about a republican candidate and just as selective as Trump regarding naturalized citizenship

(59,504 posts)Who did a huge amount as a philanthropist to further green building in Pittsburg, making the former steel town the greenest city in the US. In fact, it was her work on the environment that led GHWB to name her as a non government US representative to the RIO climate change conference. .... where she met John Kerry.
Teresa and Kerry then joined with others to lead an effort on insuring that colleges taught about sustainability in architecture and other fields. Teresa, with her foundation also did a huge amount of work on women's health and things like women's pensions.
From the small amount I read Trimp's current wife is simply noted for her looks - being beautiful may be the only thing they have in common.

(1,958 posts)who republicans think is a "foreigner" who bothers me more than Trump's current wife, and that is Huma Abedin. I do not care that she was raised in Saudi Arabia. What bothers me a little is her judgement. She chose to get married to Anthony Weiner and to have a child with him.
(As a "joke", my brother will sometimes introduce my wife to people new to her as my "current" wife. She actually does not care when he does this. She kicks him in the shin with a hard shoe. I have told her I will beat the crap out of him the next time he does this. She insists that I stay out of it. I wonder if I should be worried about this?) P.S. My brother is an asshole and everyone agrees on that, even his own wife.

Declaring someone "a better American than you" is over the top. I share Beam me up Scottie's disagreement with the OP, but it is not appropriate to say someone is not a good American because they write something one disagrees with.

(1,265 posts)Imagine in a hard-fought no-holds-barred election campaign with major stakes, you have the opportunity to launch a meme that has the potential of doing real harm to the opponent, one which he or she would have no compunctions against sending against your candidate, but...is skeevy as hell.
Would you do it? Would you have done it against Dubya? And if you could have, but didn't, wouldn't you lie awake nights thinking about it now?
