1. If the Democratic Party screws it up, he will

and that's not hyperbole.

Bernie's forces can only do so much. While Bernie's strength in the public continues to grow, the Party itself is a major obstacle to his winning the nomination. There's not even the pretense of fairness in the DNC's primary machinations. The DNC discriminates, blatantly.

The DNC has done everything it can think of to thwart Bernie. In the process, if it succeeds in thwarting the people's choice, the DNC will guarantee a Trump landslide, and there won't be a thing we can do about it.

While I personally hope that the public overrides the Party, it all balances on a knife-edge. When your supposed allies are your biggest enemy, it gets surreal.

The Democrats need to run with the strongest, least compromised, best-liked of our candidates.

whether likeable, strong, uncompromised, or not. We already know the risks of the "one we would like to have a beer with" winning.

We cannot allow trump, cruz, or any of the others anywhere near the WH.

One of the three is most likely to succeed at that. And the polls reflect which one.

If Hillary is the candidate. If it's her then really all bets are off. They won't be voting for Trump they will be voting against Hillary.

Combined that with the current estimate of 14% of Dems will just stay home if it's Hillary...

We could have a Fascistic "President" in the near future.

5. Interesting freeper 'analysis': US vs THEM - immigration and trade deals.

Donald Trump could do well among blue-collar Democratic voters who are concerned about the border and unhappy with Bill Clinton-era trade deals.

Buchanan said, "My view about Donald Trump is he's got some real capabilities I think to break out from the normal pattern of basically moderate conservative Republican against centrist Democrat. Part of that I think is his issue with the border, which reaches across party lines, and secondly his issue on trade against NAFTA and GATT and these trade deals. If you run against NAFTA and GATT and hang them around Hillary Clinton's neck in Pennsylvania and Ohio and Michigan I think you could do very well there among working class Democrats."

On working class African-American voters he added, "A lot of working class black folks and middle class black folks are interested in a far better economy than we've got now and there's no doubt that The Donald has been a job creator in his own sphere."

On working class Hispanic voters, "I'm not sure American citizens who are Hispanics want to have folks walking across the border and taking the jobs that would otherwise go to them."

Predictably, no mention in freeper world of progressive taxes, eliminating right-to-work, a stronger safety net or tighter corporate regulation.

There are 2 things that must happen to stop that scenario: Hillary - assuming she's the nominee - must somehow excite the voters who normally stay home in the midterm elections and the "sane" Republicans (big assumption there) must also vote for the Democratic candidate. Otherwise, it could be touch and go. If mid-term election nonvoters stay home and the GOP all gets behind the lunatic Trump, he wins.
