This really is a terrifying situation. I have been so grateful for Rachel pushing this story, and going after Governor Snyder. I always thought John Engler was a horrible governor, but he pales in comparison to this guy. Snyder belongs in prison. He ran Gateway out of the country and now it seems he is aiming to destroy the city of Flint.
We are lucky, here, to have such a strong advocate, in Congressman Kildee. And I will add my state senator Jim Ananich to the list of people who are fighting to get this situation resolved. If that is even possible, at this point.

(26,272 posts)Every time he does something, I think people should look for which member of his family, or which of his friends might be benefiting.
I have noticed that he does seem to like to use water in his attempts to harm people. First turning off the water in Detroit, and now using it to flat out poisoning an entire city population.
What next? Waterboarding prisioners?

(23,720 posts)over throwing the Democratically elected governments of financially distressed cities such as Flint, Pontiac, Detroit and Benton Harbor, is selling off the assets to their friends and associates and I wouldn't be surprised if they are getting payoffs in the form of kickbacks either.
The appointed city manager (dictator) of Pontiac, sold off the Silverdome, The Detroit city manager, wanted to sell off art that the city owns and resides at The Detroit Institute of Arts. I can't remember what they sold off in Benton Harbor, I'm thinking it was some real-estate. And Flint city manager, switched from Detroit City water to Flint River water and sold off their section of the Detroit pipeline
What they are doing is looting, plain and simple.

(40,416 posts)BTW, for those of you who have no cable, Rachel's program is available as an audio only podcast on iTunes. It is only a 10 MB download, well within cellular download limits. Being in the midst of a national forest where cable TV, broadband INet, or paved roads fear to tread, I treasure my nightly Rachel audio fix, when MSNBC manages to post it.

(26,272 posts)Her coverage has been very expansive. After all, it isn't often when you find a governor who seems intent on crippling an entire city.

(53,235 posts)all the Trump bullshit. Every time I turn on Chris's show or Rachel's, I hear TrumpShit. And I turn it off. Cuz apparently no one but Trump is running for president.
If they saved TrumpShit for the last 15 minutes, I wouldn't care, but they always lead with it.

As for Snyder: He is hated. The guy came to speak as part of a public forum on the Detroit Bankruptcy at Wayne State University Dec. 9 and protesters gave him the what's for.

For some reason I misremembered their relationship. It must be hard-wired. Thank you for your patience.
More than 20 years ago, I had the good fortune to interview Rep. Dale Kildee. I worked at a daily in in Oakland County, back then, partly in his district. Guy returned my calls whenever I asked a question or needed background. Intelligent and kind.
