Meeting and interacting with people we view as being so different from us is very humanizing. In my experiences I've learned we're not all that different. Kids are kids and parents are parents regardless of what language we speak or where we live.

I've learned a lot from my good friend who was born in India, territory that later became Pakistan (and forced him and his family to pick up and leave.) Have met some of his family members too.
